CLEARANCE ITEM - THE BATTLE OF WILLIAMSBURG - Brass Rosette
(Original Price $12.50) A brass rosette (1 3/4 inch diameter) with a little of the lead on the back still intact that was found near the New Quarter area of the site of the Battle of Williamsburg almost twenty years ago. This was the area of the Union right flank where Hancock's brigade moved to exploit an undefended Confederate left flank and was struck by the Confederate brigade of D.H. Hill. The Battle of Williamsburg was fought during McClellan's 1862 Peninsula Campaign and involved more than 70,000 soldiers from both armies. Earlier (including Colonial) relics were also found at the site, but this appears to be Civil War era. A provenance letter will be included.
