JUST ADDED ON 1/10 - GETTYSBURG - DEVIL'S DEN AREA - ROSENSTEEL FAMILY - Confederate Gardner Bullet with Teeth Marks GRH-DDA114

This Gardner bullet appears to have teeth marks in it. Some people call these pain bullets (used by a soldier to "bite off" the pain after being wounded or during surgery), but it is more likely that they were chewed by animals. It was recovered in the Devil's Den area at Gettysburg. This artifact was in the collection of the Ryder-Rosensteel family, direct descendants of Iva Rosensteel. The artifacts in this group were described as being from the area of Devil's Den without more specific location references. This is the first time that this artifact is being offered for public sale and I feel very privileged in the opportunity to offer it. The Rosensteels were, of course, the most famous artifact collecting family in Gettysburg and the bulk of the relics on display at today's Gettysburg National Park Visitor Center come from the Rosensteels. A signed provenance letter will be provided with this relic.
