JUST ADDED ON 12/11 - BATTLE OF HATCHER'S RUN - Most of a Hotchkiss Artillery Shell dug by Howard Alligood October 5, 1980 (or 88)
2 2 086
Most of a 3 inch Hotchkiss artillery shell (only the nose is missing), complete with sabot, that was recovered on October 15, 1988 by well-known relic hunter, collector and dealer, Howard Alligood. The collector who owned this shell (and acquired it from Alligood) marked the recovery location and date on the side. A separate handwritten note (which will be included) actually puts the recovery date in 1980, so I am not sure which is correct. Alligood began hunting for artifacts in 1963. The shell has been coated with some kind of protective material, possibly a wax of some kind. This shell has been marked $135 in the case in our shop, so this is your chance to get a very good deal. A provenance letter will be included.
