JUST ADDED ON 5/11 - THE BATTLE OF FIVE FORKS - Pulled/Misfired Confederate Gardner Bullet with Really Deep Bullet Screw Mark! - with copy of original collection label
This Gardner bullet has a really deep bullet screw mark from when the soldier removed it from the barrel after it misfired. The impression from the screw actually extends deep into the cavity. It was a part of a large Pennsylvania collection of carefully identified relics. This bullet was included with a group of bullets that were identified with a typed label that indicated they were found at Five Forks - a copy of this label will be included. The Battle of Five Forks, fought on April 1, 1865, cut off the last railroad line into Petersburg and Lee's besieged troops and ensured that Petersburg would ultimately have to be abandoned. A provenance letter will also be included.
