JUST ADDED ON 5/16 - CONFEDERATE CAMP WIGFALL, MANASSAS, VIRGINIA - Soldier Carved Bullet with Relic Hunter's Original Label
A soldier carved bullet that I think may have been intended to be a finial, perhaps for a cartridge box or the tip if a bayonet. According to the original handwritten label, it came out of the early war Confederate camp known as Camp Wigfall, which was near Manassas. About eight years ago, I walked into the Horse Soldier at Gettysburg and found that they had just added a group of artifacts with original collector's labels to one of the shelves. Since I am interested in items with good provenance, I picked out the items that I thought were most unique. I just rediscovered this group, so I am offering them in today's update. The Horse Soldier's inventory number is written on the back of the label. A provenance letter will be included.
