JUST ADDED ON 5/16 - MANASSAS, VIRGINIA - Brass Tip from a Ram Rod with Relic Hunter's Original Label
I do believe that this was probably a brass tip from a ram rod, but I am not sure of the relic hunter's speculation on the label that it was from a wooden ram rod since there are ruse stains at the base. According to the original handwritten label, this relic was recovered in Manassas, Virginia. About eight years ago, I walked into the Horse Soldier at Gettysburg and found that they had just added a group of artifacts with original collector's labels to one of the shelves. Since I am interested in items with good provenance, I picked out the relics that I thought were most unique. I just rediscovered this group, so I am offering them in today's update. The Horse Soldier's inventory number is written on the back of the label. A provenance letter will be included.
