JUST ADDED ON 5/16 - RAPPAHANNOCK STATION - Unusual Carved .69 Caliber Carcano Bullet - Something in the Cavity - with Relic Hunter's Original Label
This carved bullet, which is clearly a .69 caliber Carcano, has had the nose sliced off and a small hole has been screwed into the top. There is something in the cavity - I cannot tell if it is a rock or perhaps something metal - the point of which extends beyond the skirt. According to the original handwritten label, it was recovered near Rappahannock Station. About eight years ago, I walked into the Horse Soldier at Gettysburg and found that they had just added a group of artifacts with original collector's labels to one of the shelves. Since I am interested in items with good provenance, I picked out the relicss that I thought were most unique. I just rediscovered this group, so I am offering them in today's update. The Horse Soldier's inventory number is written on the back of the label. A provenance letter will be included.
