JUST ADDED ON 9/24 - EAST CAVALRY FIELD GETTYSBURG - JOHN GEISELMAN COLLECTION - Part of a Horse Bit or Tack
This part from a bit or tack (4 inches long x 3 1/2 wide) was a part of the famous Geiselman Collection and was identified as having been found on the East Cavalry Field. Geiselman began his collection of Gettysburg artifacts when he was a boy in the 1920s and had access to almost all of the prominent Gettysburg battlefield collections. He was meticulous in his relic identification and the collection, which was displayed for years in the Geiselman Country Store Museum, was carefully archived. The East Cavalry Battlefield was the site of the crucial battle in which the Union cavalry, including the brigade of George Custer, stopped JEB Stuart's Confederates from sweeping in behind the Union lines during Pickett's Charge. A provenance letter will be included.
