JUST ADDED ON 9/28 - THE BATTLE OF BLAKELY, ALABAMA / DUBOSE COLLECTION - A Large Fragment from a Schenkl Shell
A nice large fragment (4 1/8 x 2 1/4 inches) from a Schenkl artillery shell with old painted "52" on the side which came out of the collection of the famous Dubose family of Georgia. The fragment was found at the site of the Battle of Blakely, an important and overshadowed late war battle that involved several regiments of United States Colored Troops. The fragment was a part of the massive collection of the Dubose family, much of which is now featured in the Atlanta History Center. The Dubose Family collection is often considered to be the largest collection of Civil War artifacts in the country. A provenance letter will be included.
