JUST ADDED ON 1/8 - THE BATTLE OF GETTYSBURG / EMMITSBURG ROAD / FOUND IN 1932 - Spencer Bullet with Remains of the Casing
This Spencer bullet with start of the brass casing attached was a part of the estate of the family of Ambrose Sayles - a Civil War soldier who was a member of the 121st New York. The bullet was in a box that was marked simply "Emmitsburg Road 1932". Sayles died in 1917, so he clearly did not find this on a return to the battlefield, but perhaps a family member visited to see the famous battlefield where he fought. A provenance letter will be included.
