JUST ADDED ON 3/24 - THE BATTLE OF ANTIETAM / DUNKER CHURCH - Soldier Carved Bullet - Game Piece
A soldier carved bullet (it is almost exactly .58 caliber, so it must be a slice from a bullet) with an indentation on each side (but they don't match up) which must have been a game piece of some type. It was recovered close to the Dunker Church at Antietam in the 1960s. The Dunker Church is, perhaps, the most famous building on the Antietam battlefield and was at the heart of the morning's fight. I acquired this artifact more than a decade ago, but it has been stored away until "rediscovered" last summer. A provenance letter will be included.
