JUST ADDED ON 5/9 - THE BATTLE OF CHANTILLY - Nice Eagle "I" Cuff Button
Out of stock
An nice eagle "I" cuff button (15 mm - no back mark - stand up shank) that was recovered at the site of the Battle of Chantilly in the late 1970s. The Battle of Chantilly was a fierce fight that took place during the Union retreat after their defeat at the Second Battle of Manassas. The battle took place during a thunderstorm and, although the numbers involved were relatively small, resulted in high casualties (2100 soldiers) and the death of Major General Philip Kearney. Very little has been preserved of the original battle site - most of it is now covered by modern construction. A provenance letter will be included.
