A large fragment from the nose of a Parrott artillery shell(2 1/4 x 2 1/2 inches) that was found in an area east of Herr's Ridge that was occupied by Heth's Division on the 1st Day's Battle at Gettysburg. It comes from a member of the Rosensteel Family and it is the first time that it has been offered for public sale. The Rosensteel Family accumulated the most famous and largest of the collections of Gettysburg artifacts beginning with the Round Top museum in the late 1800s. This relic was actually found by a member of the family when it was still legal to do so. A provenance letter with specific details about the relic will be included.
